Students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities may understand ideas and possess strong intellectual abilities while struggling to access written material or express their knowledge through traditional reading and writing tasks. Assistive technology can help bridge this gap.

Assistive technology does not replace effective educational intervention. Instead, it works alongside targeted instruction by allowing students to access age-appropriate content while they continue strengthening their underlying academic skills. With appropriate tools, students can participate more fully in classroom learning, engage with higher-level material, and demonstrate their true understanding and abilities.

Kol Koreh teaches students how to use technological tools that reduce barriers to learning and provide greater access to educational content. Depending on each student’s individual needs, these tools may include text-to-speech software, speech-to-text programs, audiobooks, electronic texts, digital note-taking and annotation tools, spelling and writing supports, and organizational applications.

Finding the Right Tools for Each Student

Assistive technology is most effective when it is carefully matched to the student’s particular strengths, challenges, age, and educational environment. Kol Koreh helps students and their families identify appropriate tools and understand how they can be incorporated into daily learning.

Students receive practical instruction and guided practice so that they can learn not only how a tool works, but also when and how to use it effectively. The goal is for assistive technology to become a natural and useful part of the student’s learning process rather than an additional source of confusion or frustration.
