Children with learning disabilities need your help!!!
In January 2020, a new amendment to the Special Education Law in Israel was enacted that severely infringes upon the rights of students with learning disabilities. This amendment makes it even more difficult for students with learning disabilities to receive the academic support they so desperately need in order to keep up with their peers, including personal intervention hours, accommodations, and modifications.
Learning disabilities are neurologically-based and “hidden” from plain sight. You can’t tell whether or not someone has a learning disability just by looking at them. This makes it all too easy for individuals in official positions to pretend these disabilities don’t exist or aren’t “that bad,” but learning disabilities are real and impact students in practically every academic subject. Without the proper support, these students are doomed to fail.
In response to this grave injustice, we ask everyone to please help these students’ voices be heard. Sign a letter to demand that the Ministry of Education abolishes this amendment and gives students with learning disabilities the academic support that is crucial for their success.
To make it easier, we have two template letters that you can send, one written from the perspective of parents of students with learning disabilities, and one from concerned Israeli citizens. To see these template letters and either send one instantly through the platform, or download it for you to sign and send independently, please click here.
Please help us help our children!
Each letter makes a difference.
After you send your letter, please share the link with as many people as you can. We need everyone’s support in order to safeguard our children’s rights.
Thank you for being part of the solution!
